Sugarcane Collins
From the far north of Australia but with his musical roots embedded in the deep south of the USA, Sugarcane Collins is a one of a kind singer-songwriter-guitarist. Inspired by the slashing delta blues of Charley Patton and Son House, the sparkling ragtime of Blind Blake and the powerful songster traditions of Leadbelly, Sugarcane sings passionately with a voice that is big and soulful, writes songs that are potent and rich with imagery and attacks the guitar with a driving rhythmic swing. He cut his blues teeth in rough canefield pubs and the dangerous waterfront bars of Cairns’ famed and feared but now gone Barbary Coast and his 25 year performing career in far north Queensland is the stuff of local legend.
Sugarcane released his brilliant new album "Way Down the River" in the USA in March 2006 and in Australia in November 2006 to universal acclaim and on Thurs 7th February 2008 at the Australian Blues Music "CHAIN" Awards held in Goulburn, NSW to honour excellence in blues recordings way down the river received the "CHAIN" Award for the 2007 AUSTRALIAN BLUES ALBUM OF THE YEAR.
Sugarcane Collins will be playing at the Recky on March 20 from 7:00pm and ENTRY IS FREE FOR MEMBERS & GUESTS

Harry's Lookout

Loose Change
Loose Change will be performing live from 8:30pm to 11:30pm and entry is FREE for members and guests.
Saturday April 3 (Easter Saturday)
Respect Sunday
Respect Sunday started in mid 2007 and quickly found that their tastes in music and enthusiasm for playing live made a great combination. Their choice of music is influenced by early 90’s grunge bands like Nirvana and Silverchair, as well as many other bands such as Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, White Strips, Sex Pistols and The Ramones.
Writing original music soon became their main focus and their powerful, unique blend of grunge and funk compositions have become favourites of audiences around the area. These combined with a wide range of covers have meant that Respect Sunday gigs appeal to all ages. 2009 has seen the band consolidate their own style, continuing to play live gigs around the Mid North Coast and New England regions playing a fantastic set of originals to an ever widening fan base. More recently they have been working with a music producer from Byron Bay where they recorded a number of tracks in October this year and aim to release their first EP by early 2010.
